I wish I'd had this.

Divorce. Money worry that keeps you up. The business decision nobody else can make for you. A kid who suddenly needs a different version of you than the one you've been. Coaching gives you somewhere to put all of it down and work out what's actually true, before you decide what to do next.

Most of us learned to keep it to ourselves.

We're taught early to handle it, whatever it is, and to handle it alone. So the divorce gets filed under "getting on with it." The money worry gets a joke instead of a conversation. The parenting question nobody prepared you for gets answered on instinct, at midnight, by someone running on no sleep.

None of that is a character flaw. It's just what we were shown. Coaching isn't about becoming a different kind of man. It's somewhere to say the thing you've been carrying, hear how it sounds out loud, and decide what you want to do about it. No flinching, no fixing, no judgement.

Paul Pilbeam, men's life coach and founder of Between Better

I've been in it, not just read about it.

I'm divorced. I'm a father to a teenage daughter and son, which is its own education in humility. I've been through burnout and I know what anxiety feels like from the inside, not from a textbook. I live with misophonia, which is its own strange, specific thing to manage. I've done therapy and I'm still doing it, and I have a coach of my own, because the work doesn't have an end date.

But you're not paying for my story. You're paying for a trained coach who's lived enough of yours to know which questions matter, and to ask them without wasting your time.

No frameworks, no forms. Just a conversation.

We start by getting to know each other. From there we agree an overarching goal, then keep each session anchored in whatever feels most pressing on the day. What's live right now almost always feeds the bigger picture, and my job is to help you see how.

Founding client rate
£45 per session

While I complete my ICF accreditation hours, sessions are £45. You get committed, properly trained coaching at a rate that reflects where I am on that journey. It won't stay at this level, but if you start with me now, we'll agree your rate together before anything changes.

Your first conversation is free. A full hour, online or in person, to see whether we're a fit. No pitch and no pressure.

What does a men's life coach actually do?

Gives you a confidential hour that's entirely yours: to think out loud about relationships, money, work, parenting or whatever's live, with someone trained to ask the questions that move you forward. No scripts, no worksheets, no agenda except yours.

Is this therapy?

No. Therapy tends to look back to heal, while coaching looks forward to build. If therapy is what you need, I'll say so plainly. I've been there myself.

I'm not really a "talk about my feelings" type. Is this still for me?

Yes. Plenty of the men I talk to would say the same thing right up until they're doing it. This isn't about performing emotion. It's about being straight with yourself about what's actually going on.

What do men actually bring to these sessions?

Everything from a business decision to a marriage ending to just not liking who they've become at work. Whatever's live for you is where we start.

How much does it cost?

£45 a session at my founding client rate while I complete my ICF accreditation hours. Your first session is a free one-hour introduction, online or in person.

Where are you based, and do you coach online?

Guildford and Central London in person, online worldwide over Google Meet.

Do you offer evening sessions?

Yes. Daytime and evening both work, online or in person, because most men can't drop everything at two on a Tuesday.

What happens in the free introduction?

An hour, online or in person. You talk, I listen, and we see if it clicks. If it doesn't, no hard feelings. I'll point you somewhere useful if I can.

Ready to talk it through?

One free hour, no pitch and no pressure, to find out whether this is what you've been looking for.
